3 Limiting Beliefs That Are Holding You Back

Have you heard of limiting beliefs? Even if you don't know what it is by definition, odds are you've used limiting in your daily conversation.

Limiting beliefs are convictions you may have that hold you back in some way. They're typically about yourself or your identity. Below, I've created a list of some of the most common limiting beliefs that you need to let go of ASAP.

"I Can't"

The thing about making our dreams and aspirations come true is, we always have a little voice in the back of our heads telling us we can't do something. I'm here to tell you, that little voice is a fraud and the sooner you evict it from the precious real estate in your mind, the better and happier you'll be.

When you tell yourself, or others, that you can't do something, you start believing that to be true. Pretty soon, getting your butt to the gym, starting your own business, asking out that person you really like and getting your dream job become so unattainable, you drop your desire and settle for whatever comes your way.

You can get to the gym, you can start your own business, you can ask your crush out and you can get your dream job. You can achieve just about anything you set your mind to, as long as you shift your perspective and omit phrases like "I can't" from your vocabulary.

"I Have No Time"

Take a page from Representative Maxine Waters' book and reclaim your time! You have the same 24 hours in the day as every successful person on this planet, so saying something like "I don't have to do X" just isn't true. You might feel a little overwhelmed with everything you have on your plate and that's OK. Just sit back, convene with YOU and figure out where you can make some time to do the thing you want to do.

Wake up a little earlier and get to that spin class. After you get out of work, work on things for your personal business idea. Use your lunch break to answer back emails or write a blog post. It may be easier said than done but keep in mind that saying you don't have time is pretty much making up an excuse for why you can't do it. And remember that when you really want to get something done you make time, not excuses.

"It's Too Late"

READ THIS AS MANY TIMES AS YOU HAVE TO: it's never too late to make things happen! Ever heard those stories about people who become ultra successful in their mid-40s or who lost a ton of weight and got hella fit in their 50s? You know why they were able to achieve these things later in life? Because they dropped the notion of it being too late to get sh*t done.

You've probably seen this on social media before but if you haven't, Oprah was fired from her first reporting job! Let that sink in. One of the most successful women in media (and in business across the board) was fired while working in the very field she would later go on to OWN — see what I did there? More often than not, we reach success later in life. Don't let the stories of people who sold their companies for millions at the tender age of 18 hold you back. Keep in mind that they are the exception, not the rule!
